After a few weeks hiatus - there was painting

It's been a while since I picked up the brushes.  But I got struck by the need to paint last weekend and so I did.  Every now and again, I get the desire to really put the extra effort in and paint up a model to a much higher level than I would normally.  It gives me a chance to prove to myself that I can paint to a high standard and also lets me research new techniques or methods of painting a particular colour or something similar.  As of yet I'm still not brave enough to try OSL (Object Source Lighting).  Part of it is that I only partly like the effect.  the other is that after spending all that time painting up a miniature, I don't really want to obscure the details I've spent all that time picking out with OSL.

Anyway, I chose the terminator librarian model for this, with a slight conversion because I think the giant book thing that is supposed to be a banner for him looks stupid.  Mostly because of the 6 week challenge (which I'm currently failing miserably at) and partly because it is a sweet model.  Even if I do have the old metal version as opposed to the new finecast one.  But from what I've heard, a finecast version might not be ideal anyway :)

I went with the traditional colours for the librarian.  Blue armour and a yellow tabard.  The rest was all as it came along.  I've got two photos from the front, one with flash and one without and one photo of the rear of the model without a flash.

And here are the finished lightning claw terminators.  All ten this time and with the claws actually finished.  Turns out what I wanted to do with the airbrush was too fiddly (read I was too lazy to mask the minis) so I did it by hand instead.
