Well, I finished my Fire Raptor. Still got a lot of work on the chapter to do, even though it's mostly finished. Well, feels mostly finished.
You ask any decent painter and they will tell you that there is no magic paint, brush, airbrush or technique that makes you a better painter. It all comes down to spending the time practicing different techniques, experimenting with new paints and basically just putting the time and effort in.
Keep using the same things over and over again and you don't learn anything new, you don't develop your skills. I've been trying a lot of new techniques lately, but haven't really ventured out of my comfort zone when it comes to paints.
Well, I've just gotten a bunch of new paints to test out. These are different to my usual paints because they are airbrush ready lacquer acrylic paints rather than the usual water based acrylic you'd get from companies like Games Workshop or Vallejo.
So I'm going to do a few tests this weekend and see how things go.
Bonus is that they are produced by a local Australian company :)
So, last time I commented about how I was having a bit of hobby paralysis because I had too many projects going at once. I still have too many projects, but I finally finished one of the ones that's been sitting on my desk. And that is some of my custodes. However, this is not technically finished because I haven't figured out how I'm going to do the basing as this is also part of another project I'm planning. Projects within projects! Very Inception :P
I've always wanted rules for the Adeptus Custodes, so I was super happy when Games Workshop finally released rules and models for them. I have a few characters to paint and want to expand the army, but that's a later me problem.
Finishing something is rewarding though. Plus it offsets some recent purchases I've made. So net, I'm still more miniatures painted than purchased this year.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
